COMMERCIAL FAQ's

  • What brands do you service?

AirMark is a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer. However we service all brands, makes and models.

  • Does my lease agreement require me to have a maintenance agreement on my commercial property?

Most lease agreements do require tenants to have a maintenance agreement in place.

  • What type of filter should I use?

Standard fiberglass 1”filters are the best for airflow, efficiency, and system capacity.  Using more restrictive pleated filters reduces air volume going through the system- making it harder for your system to heat/cool your home. Want improved filtration, we can help with that in other ways!

  • Why and how often should I have regular maintenance done?

The system that heats and cools your business requires regular, seasonal maintenance to perform optimally. Components need to be cleaned, inspected and replaced over time to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the system. Join our Comfort Club and we can help keep you cool all year.

  • What does my warranty cover?

Under the standard factory warranty, Bryant covers parts that fail during the warranty period. The warranty does not cover labor after the first year. Some components carry more warranty coverage than others based on the specific model/serial number and installation date of your system. Please call us for detailed information and join our Comfort Club to receive 10% off parts on all your system repairs.

  • What is the life expectancy of my system?

The life cycle of an HVAC system depends on many factors such as: proper installation/sizing, routine maintenance, usage, location, and “acts of God” (lightning, rain, flood, fire). To ensure you get the most out of your system, we encourage customers to join our Comfort Club, which will ensure the system is properly cared for.

  • What does our Diagnostic Charge include?

The diagnostic charge gets our technician, in a fully stocked vehicle, to your business to troubleshoot a problem with the system. Once the problem is determined, our technician will let you know the issue(s) and the costs of additional repairs. We do not waive the diagnostic fee with repairs. Other companies may do this, but rest assured they are recouping the fee in their repair costs.

  • Is it normal to add refrigerant to my system?

Yes and no. HVAC systems tend to leak over time due to the normal wear and tear on a system. Leaks can also occur for other reasons. You should not have to regularly add refrigerant to a system. If your system is found to be low on refrigerant, a technician can leak check the system to determine the source of the leak. It may be repairable, or it may signal the need to replace a component of your system.

  • Why can't a leaking coil be repaired?

In most instances, leaking evaporator coils are not repairable. This is because the metals are corroding and breaking down, and the holes are numerous microscopic pinholes packed into dense layers of aluminum fins and copper tubing. In some instances there is a specific leak source that can be repaired. Also, depending on how old a component is, the cost of a repair may approach the replacement cost of a new component. A technician can determine whether or not a leak is repairable.

  • Can you provide exact appointment times?

AirMark has plenty of flexibility to work with our customers’ schedules. The day is divided into three-hour windows to allow for traffic and other unexpected events. We always call ahead to let you know when we are on the way. We can also contact you on your cell phone or text message so that you do not have to wait at home for our technician to arrive.

  • Should I leave the fan switch on "AUTO" or "ON"?

There is no true correct answer to this question. However, using the fan “ON” mode has been shown to increase levels of humidity during the summer. Additionally, air leaks in the duct system may cause additional infiltration while the fan is running.

RESIDENTIAL FAQ's

  • What brands do we service?

Airmark Heating & Air Conditioning is a Bryant Factory Authorized dealer. We also service well-known brands such as Rheem, Trane, Kenmore, and other popular brands of heating and air conditioning units. We officially recommend people who are looking for air conditioner installation choose a high-efficiency Bryant model.

  • What type of filter should I use?

The most important thing when choosing the type of filter is to make sure it’s designed for your system. Check your manufacturer’s guide or your owner’s manual for your HVAC system or furnace to see what kind of filter you should use. Generally, though, we recommend using a 1” fiberglass filter.

  • How often should I get HVAC maintenance done?

You should get HVAC maintenance done a few times per year. We offer air conditioner maintenance just before the temperatures start to rise, and heating maintenance when the temperatures begin to fall. Check out our Total Comfort Service Plan for more details!

  • Why should I get HVAC maintenance?

HVAC maintenance is important for two reasons. The first reason is that without maintenance, your system will suffer from breakdowns due to normal wear. HVAC systems are made up of thousands of moving parts and use a great deal of energy. Not only that but they’re used all day. This results in wear due to usage. The second reason is that maintenance can uncover small problems that could result in much bigger problems later on. We offer a Comfort Club Service Plan which can help you save on the cost of maintenance!

  • What does my warranty cover?

If you own a Bryant unit, you should know that they cover failed parts during the stated warrant period. These are limited to manufacturer’s defects and will cover labor costs associated with them up until the first year. To get information on non-manufacturer-specific warranty information, please call us at 706- 576-5973.

  • What is the life expectancy of my system?

Each unit in your HVAC system has a different life expectancy. For example, you can expect an air conditioner to last between 10 and 15 years, whereas a furnace will last for more than 20. Your HVAC system’s overall life expectancy will depend on other variables such as whether it was sized correctly for your home, the relative climate of your home, and how often it’s used.

  • Is it normal to add refrigerant to my system?

No: in fact, refrigerant almost never needs to be added to an HVAC system for any reason. Refrigerant is not like fuel, where you need to continuously add more to keep the system operating. If your air conditioner doesn’t have enough refrigerant, it’s because there’s a leak in the system. Only once the leak is fixed will an HVAC technician add more refrigerant to your system. Not all leaks are repairable, though, and some will require a replacement part.

  • What does our Diagnostic Charge include?

To figure out the source of your problem, we run a series of diagnostic tests on your HVAC system. This requires a trained technician with all their tools to see what the issue truly is. The amount of time it takes depends on the true nature of the problem. Since this requires labor and tools, we have to charge for this service. Our diagnostic charges are not waived when we do repairs

  • Why can't a leaking coil be repaired?

Leaking evaporator coils may not be repairable because the leak is caused by the corrosion of the metal tubing that surrounds the coil. If we find that your evaporator coil cannot be repaired, we will quote you for the cost of replacing the coil. In some cases, it may be more beneficial to replace the air conditioner unit entirely.

  • Can you provide exact appointment times?

We provide three-hour windows for appointment visits due to two factors. The first factor is to give you flexibility so that you can choose an approximate time to be ready for us. Not only that, but some visits may take longer and we need to account for that. The second factor is due to scheduling other visits. Our schedules need to be set up so that we can service all of our customers with the care and respect they deserve. By leaving room for flexibility in scheduling, we can better serve all our customers.

  • Should I leave the fan switch on "AUTO" or "ON"?

We recommend leaving it on AUTO for most purposes. If you are concerned about your own home’s ability to cool itself down, give us a call at 706-576-5973 and we’ll help you out.

  • Should I get a bigger air conditioner or furnace?

The real question is, “Is my air conditioner or furnace correctly sized for my home?” If you’re not making large extensions to your home, you should never have to change the size of your HVAC components. But, some homes have HVAC systems that were not sized correctly. You will know this is the case if you have higher energy bills than you should despite feeling uneven temperatures throughout the home.

  • What is a variable speed system?

Variable speed is a term that describes how a blower motor changes speed. A variable speed system has a blower that speeds up and slows down slowly, rather than simply shutting off and turning on when it’s told to by the thermostat. The benefits of a variable speed system are that it provides greater humidity control and is more energy-efficient overall.

  • What is multi-stage equipment?

Think of multi-stage HVAC equipment as having multiple settings, such as “low”, “medium” and “high”. Single-stage HVAC equipment simply has “on” or “off”. The aim of multi-stage equipment is to provide a more comfortable home while staying highly energy efficient. You can tell whether you have multi-stage heating or cooling by looking at the wiring: if there is only one wire for heating and one wire for cooling, you have a single-stage system. If you have multiple wires, you could have one of several types of multi-stage HVAC systems.
